The Truth About Celery Juice
In March 2019, I wrote about why I drink celery juice. Back then, and still today, celery juice is claimed to clear skin, reduce inflammation, strengthen the immune system, etc. Now, I am writing the TRUTH about celery juice. I no longer drink celery juice because I have done lots of research and realized that there are a lot of misconceptions about juicing celery. Here are some truths about celery juice!
1. Celery juice has no fiber in it.
When someone drinks celery juice, the fiber is completely gone. Fiber helps keep you full longer and helps prevent constipation, lowers cholesterol levels, and helps control blood sugar levels. Celery juice contains vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, calcium, potassium, sodium, electrolytes, water, and magnesium {via}. Celery juice contains lots of vitamins; however, the fiber in celery is extremely healthy and nutritious. Eating celery itself will keep you full longer as well as getting lots of vitamins and minerals. Celery juice can actually spike your blood sugar since it does not have any fiber to control your blood sugar levels.
2. Juicing celery every day can be expensive.
Juicing celery every day is time-consuming and can be expensive. As I mentioned earlier, celery juice won't keep you full for very long. In order to feel satisfied, you would have to drink a lot of juice. You can reap the same benefits of drinking celery juice by simply eating it as a snack or adding some to your meal. For example, eat celery with some peanut butter or ranch dressing!
3. It's just a fad diet.
Celery juice has only been popular for a few years and soon a new food will be considered revolutionary and magical. I am not saying you should not drink celery juice, if you can afford to buy celery all the time and you enjoy the taste by all means drink it. Celery is a great vegetable and can be consumed in many ways, not just by juicing!
4. Many of the claimed health benefits of celery juice have no scientific evidence backing them up.
One of the first people claiming that celery juice was healthy was Anthony William who is known as The Medical Medium. William has no nutrition or medical training and claims he is able to converse with the Spirit of Compassion who provides him with "accurate health information". William claims that there are undiscovered cluster salts in celery juice that do not exist in evidence-based science {via}. All of this said, there's nothing bad about celery juice. It's hydrating and has vitamins and minerals in it, just like water. Celery is 95% water and the other 5% are vitamins and minerals. That's it.
